Prices
(1st Jan 06 = 100 units)
From 1st May '07 Remarks:
(1st Jan)
Merchant Bar 126 (112) Prices have stabilised but
(Rounds, Flats, Angles etc) we anticipate further
increases will be soon
announced.
Heavy sections 152 (135) The April increase is now
(Beams, Columns etc) being implemented and we expect more increases
to be announced.
Hollow Sections 118 (118) Q1 dip in price has now
(Box, Tubes etc) been fully recovered and
we expect further
increases.
.
Supply
Merchant Bar mills are busy with lead times still 10/12 weeks. Summer shutdowns and mill refits could create some shortages.
Heavy Sections are still tight with no sign of much improvement, especially with the Euorpean market being so busy.
Hollow Section supply is in balance if you want common stock sizes and lengths but anything special will have at least a 12 week lead time.
Demand
Our customers have generally good order books (the same as last month) and they are benefiting from stockholder competition. We are again optimistic about the level of demand over the next 3 months.
Tomrods Limited / All Steels Trading Limited
April was a 19 day working month with Easter in the middle. This is usually a recipe for a loss making month but we stay in profit, with All Steels producing excellent results as good as any previous month on record. We look forward to May and the resumption of normal profit levels within Tomrods Limited.
