Newsletter 12 -February 2007
"Keeping
you Informed"
Prices
(1st Jan 06 = 100 units)
1st Feb '07 Remarks:
Merchant Bar 116 £14/t increase announced,
(Rounds, Flats, Angles etc) further increases likely.
Heavy sections 144 Another £30/t increase
(Beams, Columns etc) expected April '07
Hollow Sections 112 We expect prices to start
(Box, Tubes etc) a slow recovery
Supply
Merchant Bar, Heavy Section and Hollow Section mills are all busy. Heavy Section mills should start to catch up with outstanding orders over the next few months but Merchant Bar and Hollow Section mills may well get busier.
Demand
Sales order levels have improved and we expect this trend to continue. The recovery of selling prices will further add to the overall demand.
Corus / Tata
We cautiously welcome this development and hope that the competitiveness of Corus will be assisted by the availability of cheaper raw material sources. We also hope the the outmoded Victorian sales techniques that parts of Corus have always adopted will be replaced by the new management.
Tomrods Limited
2007 has started well from a trading point of view and although margins are under a lot of pressure we expect a satisfactory result for January.
The Christmas party was enjoyed by all and always is something to look forward to in the middle of the dark January weather.
All Steels Limited
The December shipment unfortuately did not arrive until the 19th January, but we managed to deliver a good proportion to our waiting customers. January's result will reflect this late arrival but we will still be posting a positive result.
