Prices
All prices remain under pressure and we cannot foresee any let up in the downward movement.
Supply
We are very disappointed with mill performances, you would expect that they would be able to meet all delivery promises especially as orders are so rare. But they are delaying rolling dates because of the lack of sufficient tonnages. However one enlightened mill did say they would be rolling smaller lots more often, perhaps other mills will follow. But please note that there are some problems with supply.
Demand
Whatever you hear there is still a demand for steel, a lot smaller than before but it is still there. Please spread the word.
Credit
Still very tight and we are working overtime to maintain insurance cover on our customers. The insurance companies are very nervous of all risks because of the current economic recession. Please do not be offended if we ask for up to date management figures as this is what we are being asked to provide by our insurers. If you have any problems please contact Melinda Bruce who is here to help.
Tomrods Limited
The annual bowling night took place on the 29th February and Bryce McCall-Smith won the men's and Katrina Clark the ladies, having started with a Turkey (three strikes in a row). We still resist the need to make any redundancies although we are cutting back in all possible areas, we will maintain our total service and quality for as long as possible.
