Supply

Merchant Bar mills are still busy and with summer shutdown, mill refits and billet supply problems we strongly recommend that you cover your needs for at least the next 3 months.

Heavy Section supplies have been severly affected by the 5/6 week delay in rollings from Corus medium section mill. Channels and small beams will be in very short supply and prices could rocket. Hollow Sections are still in balance but the prospect of long term supplies of Chinese material at very low prices has now receded with the scrapping of export assistance for Chinese mills.

Demand
During May the level has been encouraging especially taking into account the Whitsun Holidays.

Tomrods Limited (UK Steel Stcokholders)

May despatches held up well although margins were disappointing and we look forward to a satisfactory financial result.

In the works we have put in our first night shift so that we can cope with the volumes of cutting and blasting, early signs indicate we will be looking for extra capacity within the next few weeks.

Three new Kaltenbach saws have also helped with ensuring we give all our customers the very best service possible.

We would like to congratulate Eddie Plumpton, our Manse Lane Foreman, on becoming a Grandad for the 5th time, all are doing well.

ALL STEELS TRADING LIMITED (International Steel Traders)

Another good month especially with the arrival of MV Steffan Sibum on the 19th May. June will see the arrival of another shipment and we hope another good month of trading.

The web site for All Steels will shortly be up and running so you will be able to see pictures of our good looking staff.

LEGG BROTHERS LIMITED (Steel Rerolling Mill)

May saw good levels of order intake coupled with near record levels of output. Well done to all concerned especially taking into account recent personnel upheavals.
