Tomrods
Ltd started trading in 1974 with just two employees
and without any steel in stock.. We have grown over
the years so that we now have 32 employees, 6000 tonnes
of stock, over 90,000 sq ft ( 10,000 sq m) of covered
and outside storage, a fleet of wagons as well as extensive
processing facilities.
We are situated on two sites, Knaresborough and Thirsk.
Both are in North Yorkshire and within a short distance
of the A1 motorway. We have easy access to all our customers
in the Northeast of England as well as to the Humber
ports. Our fleet of 6 wagons deliver daily into all
these areas providing a just-in-time service to all
our UK customers. We also export to Europe and the USA.
In addition to the supply of standard
stock lengths we have five saws, which can provide an
individual cut to length service as well as mitreing
and bundle cutting of sizes up to 1016x305 beam. We
have on site shotblasting and painting facilities and
can offer drilling as part of these comprehensive services.
Tomrods Ltd has always prided itself
on the quality of the product that it sells. We are
certificated to conform to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 and we
are always working at adding to the quality of the product
and the service that we give to our customers.
Financially the directors have always
believed that a strong balance sheet is an essential
part of being successful. Since our conception we have
retained profits within the company to provide for the
continuing investment needed to remain ahead of our
competitors as well as enabling us to take advantage
of new technology.
Tomrods Ltd is totally committed to
provide our customers and suppliers with an excellent
service. Our current managing director, John Thompson,
is one of those two employees who started trading on
the 1st of January 1974 and is proud of the company’s
past achievements, but is also totally committed to
a programme of continuing improvement.
This web site has been set up so you
can see the products, the services and the people and
to give you an insight into our company. We trust you
will find it useful.
