Prices

Since our last newsletter of 4th March prices have hardened further. Merchant bar prices have been increased by another £10/t (£32/t so far this year or 10%), hollows section prices for May/June are being quoted at prices £75/t more than at the turn of the year(+20%) and heavy section prices are forecast to go up another £40/t in May. Rises remind us of 2004 but without the same panic that gripped buyers 2 years ago.

Demand
Demand  has strengthened as forecast and certain mills are quoting 3 / 4 month lead times. We would strongly recommend that you talk to us if you have any significant steel requirements so we can ensure your supply position.
