Steel Bulletin News January 2013
January 5, 2013
PRICES
January has seen some small increases in hollow sections and merchant bar prices but the main increase has been in heavy sections where prices have increased by £30 to £50/t. Stock is also low and with iron ore prices up nearly 50% from their lowest rates and scrap prices set to rise, we believe these increases will be passed into the general market during January. As far as February and March prices are concerned opinion is split, some think that there are more increases in the pipeline, some do not. Please feel free to give us a call at any time and we will let you have the up to date news concerning price movements.
SUPPLY
The supply side is generally in balance although stock levels have reduced during December. Some shortages are envisaged especially larger PFCs and some selected UB/UCs.
TOMRODS LTD
Tomrods is in good shape as we enter our 40th year and look forward to a busy and rewarding 2013. At Christmas we said goodbye to Eddie O’Gorman, one of our drivers since 1990, and we wish him a long and happy retirement. Unfortunately this now means I am now the oldest member of staff but I have a few years yet to go before I take up my pension. We wish you all success in 2013 and hope that the weather gets drier and the sun shines on us all.
